Welcome to my website dedicated to my work. After 25 years as a production potter and 15 additional years of working in clay, I'm taking my acquired skills to explore other art forms in new ways. Hand building is not entirely new to me but instead of creating utilitarian vessels, I've chosen to create sculptural tiles. My tiles are one-of-a-kind, the themes are related to nature. Current artwork in my portfolio is locally inspired and they are primarily landscapes, botanical studies, animal portraits and most recently birds and nests. But with the freedom that comes from creating a single piece, I am open and eager to explore new ideas. Each tile is simply framed and ready to hang anywhere, not need to be concerned about moisture issues. Alongside making sculptural tiles, I've delved into painted paper collage with enthusiasm. My collage work is about serendipity and spontaneity. Each one is a surprise to me, rich in color and shape, abstract but also reminiscent of landscapes, real or imaginary.
Teapots
I find teapots wonderfully complex and a creative challenge. They are definitely an art form and a way to bring art into ever day experiences. No matter the choice of tea, serving it in a beautiful teapot heightens the pleasure. I make a variety of styles and sizes from small personal teapots to larger capacity teapots that are perfect for serving tea to guests.
